Type and size of a light globe bases.
E27 is the most common type of Edison Screw base, It is often refereed to as just ES.
The number ’27′ refers to the diameter. This type of base is also compatible with Compact Fluorescent Globes.
Whilst we do stock 110Volt E26 components for those countries that use that standard, not all bulb shapes are available. It is however feasible to install 240V bulbs into 110V wiring, the bulb will light up about a quarter as bright so a 60Watt bulb will appear as bright as a 15Watt bulb. It seems also that E26 E27 are roughly interchangeable under these circumstances, ie, a 240W E27 bulb will screw into an existing E26 fitting. Where possible though an E26 fitting can be used instead.
The reverse is not true however, a 110V bulb in a 240V wired house will blow unless a wiring step down voltage is installed.
