One of Australia’s most highly regarded events, The Australian Open, proudly happens in our home town of Melbourne. Not only is there some incredible tennis to watch but there is a festival of activities that are enjoyed over the two-week period, with live music, big screens and a delicious array of food offerings. Pop-up spaces hosting well-known eateries range from casual family friendly to sophisticated, intimate spaces. Edison Light Globes were lucky to have some of our lighting incorporated into these beautiful spaces.
Event Coordinators Chard International teamed with interiors stylist Heather Nette King produced some amazing work for two premier event areas, the Emirates Australian Open Lounge and the exotic dining area 88 Melbourne.
The Emirates Australian Open Lounge featured many fine fabrics, silk wallpapers, plush carpet, seating and cushions, incorporating style elements that reflected an inflight experience on one of Emirates A380’s. This is where our glass round edged jar pendants were used to accommodate a moody private dining area at the back of the lounge. These jar glass pendants with their coffee coloured glass added to the exotic mood.
In addition, our very own Massimo from MXC Project had a couple of his unique lighting designs customed for the 88 Melbourne space . His eclectic upcycled aluminium can shades “bought a layer and texture that would have otherwise been missing” said Chard International’s Gary Chard of their style choice for the 88 Melbourne restaurant area at the Australian Open. Not only are these light fittings mesmerising and beautiful to look at but their construction from approximately 100 aluminium can bases makes them a sustainable choice to.
Massimo’s eco-designed lights can be found via Edison’s limited edition items or he can be contacted directly for commissions through MXC.
