Vintage brown ceramic insulator table lamp 240V switched with 3 pin plug and 1.5 m cloth cable. This Vintage Ceramic Insulator table lamp uses an up-cycled ceramic high tension power insulator in a gloss brown glaze as the base, with a brass E27 240V lamp holder securely mounted above a brass tube. It is the perfect lamp to show the beauty of our larger Edison bulbs. This ceramic insulator was made in Japan in around 1960 and has been exposed to the elements atop a power pole somewhere in Australia. It has some signs of age with a few stains and scuffs. We soak in Caustic to remove as much grime as possible but they still retain evidence of their age.
The locking mechanism of our E27 240V brass lamp holder means the body cannot be unscrewed accidentally when changing the bulb. Under the large insulator we have included a turned Acetal base in black to gain some stability and make space for cable grip. This lamp is a great addition to any side table and a perfect decoration as a bedside lamp.
Use with lamp shade
This lamp base is stable enough to use with a small to medium sized traditional lamp shade. Most existing wire framed fabric shades have a mount that requires a 28mm diameter lamp holder and shade ring. This is would fit a bayonet (B22) lamp holder. Our default E27 lamp holder (screw fitting, pictured) does have shade rings but the shade will need a 38mm mount hole.
If you would like to use this lamp with a shade you should check the size of the shade mount first. You can then order with a specific type of lamp holder to suit your shade. Or B22 option allows the option for a switch at the lamp holder rather than an inline switch on the cable.
The lamp comes with a black inline switch and 3 pin plug with an option of different brass hardware color and a range of cable colors to choose from. We can make as 120Volt for USA/Canada from parts that are UL Listed.
You use any of our E27 240V bulbs such as our large Vintage LED’s pictured. New soon is the Mushroom shaped spiral LED filament.
