• Outdoors: Fully covered porches, patios, and garage overhangs protected from direct rain or snow.

Damp versus Wet rating

• Damp Rated: Handles moisture in the air and condensation; built with basic protective seals.
• Wet Rated: Handles direct water exposure like rain, sprinklers, or inside shower stalls; built with watertight, corrosion-resistant seals

Our product lists for wet or damp rating an IP rating system. While the US testing system (governed by UL) and the international Ingress Protection (IP) system use different criteria and cannot be precisely converted, they align closely by application

Damp Rated = IP44 or IP54

• What it means: Protection against water splashing or light spraying from any direction, plus air moisture and condensation.
• Best for: Covered outdoor patios, regular bathrooms, and laundry rooms.

Wet Rated = IP65, IP66, or Higher

• What it means: Dust-tight construction that withstands direct, heavy rain or low-pressure water jets.
• Best for: Uncovered outdoor areas, direct garden exposure, or inside a shower stall.
